andrea's Home

It was suggested that we might be able to help Andreea, who does shift work while her husband looks after the children, at the time Gabi was aged 10, Ruxi was 7, Daniel was 4 and Teo.
This family lived in a room that is no bigger than 12 foot square

The only furniture was two beds and a wood burning stove for cooking.
Nowhere to keep clothes and a box for food.
The roof was plastic, covering what little wood there was.
For all they live at the foothills of the mountains they are not allowed to cut down the trees for fuel.
They are only allowed to pick up sticks

Polystyrene on one wall right by the cooking stove was infested with cockroaches.
The door was a blanket
The walls covered in black plastic for warmth.

ACA and The Rainbow Project helped to dramatically improve their circumstances with new plastered walls and other home improvements as well as furniture to keep clothes in and some chairs

Since these pictures were taken they have also recieved another new bed
You can see their delight in their new home

"If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry, and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will be like noonday sun”

- isaiah 58: 9-10

Mihaela's Home

This is Mihaela and her husband outside their old home.
As with most families in the village they use a wood burning cooking stove, this one is situated just inside the front door.
This is where Mihaela will cook a meal of the one pot soup or stew variety which is then left on the stove for the family to help themselves whatever time they come in, whether the food is still hot or gone cold.
There was one room where the family lived and slept.
There are five children in this family, 6yr old Amalia, 9yr old Damaris, who has special needs, 13yr old Petru, 14yr old Pavel and 16yr old Iosef.
The room was about 4metres (12 ft) square and contained two sofas, one a sofa bed, on which Mum, Dad and Damaris slept and another ordinary sofa on which the two younger boys slept.
The other children slept with other family members

ACA and The Rainbow Project gave them some money to help them build a second room and improve their current one.
